An important part of the legislative process is hearing from the public and those impacted by legislation at the Colorado Capitol. Normally, testimony on bills are heard in-person with limited access to remote testimony on specific bills.

This year, the legislature has made an effort to expand remote testimony because of COVID-19 restrictions and in an effort to limit personal contact. The Senate and House have put together rules and guidelines to the testimony process. Because Colorado Farm Bureau members are located throughout the state, this is an opportunity for even our most remote members to participate in the process. This year is going to be full of ag-related bills that need your voice.

Here is how you can participate in testimony:

  • Provide video testimony through the video conferencing software Webex.
  • Call in to provide testimony by phone using the Webex call-in option.
  • Register for remote testimony by visiting: https://www2.leg.state.co.us/CLICS/CLICS2021A/commsumm.nsf/signIn.xsp
  • In-person testimony is still also available.
  • Written testimony is accepted, but only for bills that have been scheduled for a committee hearing.

You can find more information about how to access the Webex system and register for remote testimony by clicking here.

Colorado Farm Bureau will be sure to keep you posted on upcoming bills where your voice will be needed. Be sure to keep an eye on the bill tracker and watch your email for calls-to-action on specific pieces of legislation. Together, we can make sure that the voice of Colorado agriculture is heard. If you have questions, or would like more information about this process, please contact State Affairs Director Austin Vincent at austin@coloradofb.org.
