Celebrating the history of agriculture in Elbert County is just the right thing to do.

Elbert County Commissioners confirmed that when they passed a Right to Farm Proclamation recognizing the tradition and contributions of farmers and ranchers in the county.

At a ceremony on July 25, 2018 the Elbert County Commissioners voted unanimously to approve the proclamation and with it, placement of signs around key entrances to the county.

Past Elbert County Farm Bureau president, Bill Harris, was in attendance as the draft signs and official proclamation were presented. Bill has been a long-standing dedicated Colorado Farm Bureau Member.

“I haven’t been working for the Colorado Farm Bureau for very long,” said Taylor Lobato, director of policy communications for the Colorado Farm Bureau, in her comments during the meeting. “However, from the very beginning I knew that Bill and Nancy are special to the organization and paramount to its success. I’m honored to represent the state office here on this special day.”

The proclamation has been a long time coming. This moment was a special one to celebrate Bill and all those who worked so hard to make it happen. Current Elbert County Farm Bureau president and County Administrator, Justin Klassen, presented the proclamation. He too, was vital in the passage of this language.
