In support of CFB’s 100th anniversary and Centennial Celebration, Governor Polis issued an official proclamation that November 22, 2019 is now recognized as Colorado Farm Bureau Day. The proclamation was made at the 2019 CFB Annual Meeting in Denver on Nov. 22nd.

The text of the Proclamation reads:

WHEREAS, on March 22, 1919, a group of 10 Colorado counties and farmers met to form what was termed a “Farm Bureau;” with the goals of “making the business of farming more profitable and the community a better place to live”; and

WHEREAS, from the first president W.G. Jamison, to the current president Donald Shawcroft, the Colorado Farm Bureau Federation has always been led by farmers and ranchers to represent all agricultural producers across the State of Colorado; and

WHEREAS, the Colorado Farm Bureau Federation, with a state farm bureau, 45 county farm bureaus, and 23,000 member families, is one of the largest grassroots agricultural organizations in the State of Colorado; and

WHEREAS, the mission of the Colorado Farm Bureau Federation is ‘‘to promote and protect the future of agriculture and rural values’’; and

WHEREAS, the Colorado Farm Bureau Federation fulfills that mission by supporting farm and ranch families through advocacy, programs and partnerships that strengthen rural communities, by improving agricultural production, economic opportunity, leadership development, and public policy, and by uniting individual voices into a force that improves the well-being of the people of the State of Colorado; and

WHEREAS, the Colorado Farm Bureau Federation has represented the interests of farmers with respect to the consideration and enactment of all major legislation impacting farmers since the founding of the Colorado Farm Bureau Federation; and  

WHEREAS, the Colorado Farm Bureau Federation plays a vital role in promoting the well-being of the people of Colorado by analyzing the problems faced by farm and ranch families and by formulating action to achieve the goals of farm and ranch families; and

WHEREAS, the State of Colorado commemorates the 100th anniversary of the Colorado Farm Bureau Federation by recognizing their century of promoting farm and ranch interests for the benefit of the people of the State of Colorado, and applauds the Colorado Farm Bureau Federation for its past, present, and future efforts to advocate for farm interests that are critical to the State of Colorado.

Therefore, I , Jared Polis, Governor of the State of Colorado do hereby proclaim November 22, 2019 as COLORADO FARM BUREAU DAY in the State of Colorado.
