Young Farmer and Rancher Program

The YF&R program is composed of farm bureau members between the ages of 18-35 that wish to become effective leaders in Farm Bureau and the ag industry, and learn more about being successful on their own farms and ranches.

The program also gives members a chance to take part in state and national competitive events like the Discussion Meet, Emerging Leader, Excellence in Ag and the achievement awards!  The YF&R Program provides several activities throughout the year for producers to get together, network, have fun and be part of the entire Farm Bureau experience.

The Colorado Farm Bureau YF&R Committee has a representative from each of our ten districts throughout the state as well as one from each collegiate Farm Bureau Chapter.  The Committee develops and hosts the CFB YF&R Leadership Conference and other activities during the Mid Summer Meeting, CFB Annual Meeting as well special events like Ag outreach at A Taste of Colorado.

YF&R leadership conferences and other events are a great way to network, learn and have fun. To find out more about how you can participate in any YF&R event, email Kacie@coloradofb.org. Event details are listed below.

YF&R Discussion Meet

The CFB YF&R Discussion Meet allows participants to sharpen their public speaking skills and to thoroughly explore issues that affect agriculture and Farm Bureau.   The competition is designed to simulate a committee meeting about a predetermined question, and participants are evaluated on their problem solving, cooperative attitude and speaking skills.  The winner has the opportunity to compete at the national level. The Colorado YF&R Discussion Meet is held at the CFB Annual Meeting in Denver every November.

Achievement Award and Excellence in Agriculture Award

Members who have excelled in their farming and ranching operations and have demonstrated outstanding leadership abilities are encouraged to apply for these awards.
