This job is responsible for the state legislative and governmental services programs, provides assistance for the policy development program, and serves as the organization’s lobbyist at the state capitol.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Monitor state-level legislative and regulatory actions for their impact and effect on Colorado agriculture, farming and ranching businesses, and rural economies.
  2. Serve as the organization’s lobbyist at the state capitol, communicating with members of the Colorado General Assembly, Governor and state regulatory agencies.
  3. Coordinate with the contract lobbying team to further communicate with members of the Colorado General Assembly and other stakeholder groups
  4. Represents the organization on various coalitions and policy working groups.
  5. Provide guidance for issue advisory committees and administer the policy development program.
  6. Coordinate with communications staff to inform members on legislation and regulatory programs.
  7. Write position statements, issue papers and develop policy action plans to amplify the organization’s
    advocacy efforts.
  8. Assist the Director of Public Policy – Federal Affairs with implementing the political education
    program.
  9. Manage the state affairs budget, and maintain and file reports with various state agencies.
  10. Manage the Colorado Farm Bureau Political Action Committee.
  11. Provide support for the coordination of state meetings and conferences.
  12. Travel is required to represent the organization at county, state and AFBF meetings.
  13. Perform additional duties as may be assigned or necessary to achieve the mission and objectives of the
    organization.
