CENTENNIAL, COLO.–Jan. 23, 2020– The following statement is attributed to Don Shawcroft, President of the Colorado Farm Bureau:

“For the last five years farmers and ranchers have been fighting against the complex, vague, and overreaching provisions of the 2015 Waters of the United States rule. Today’s announcement of a newly finalized and workable rule provides clarity and stability for farmers and ranchers everywhere, ensuring that farmland remains healthy and productive, and our waters protected. It is a major win for Colorado agriculture.

Nothing is more important to a farmer or rancher’s livelihood than protecting the land, water and resources they use to grow crops and livestock. This new rule does that. And it removes burdensome rules and unclear guidelines that dramatically expanded the power of the federal government to interfere with how farms and ranches are run.

Colorado Farm Bureau has worked alongside other agriculture organizations to provide feedback, comments, and insight that helped shape the new rule. Colorado farmers and ranchers are thankful for the Trump Administration’s work on this issue—we celebrate CLEAN WATER and CLEAN RULES.”
