Larimer County Commissioners voted 2-1 to approve a 1041 permit for the Northern Integrated Supply Project on Wednesday. The decision paves the way for the construction of Glade Reservoir, its attendant pipelines and infrastructure, and finalizes the county-level permitting process for the water storage project.

Commissioners took multiple rounds of public testimony which included the Presidents of the Larimer and Weld County Farm Bureaus. Morgan County Farm Bureau also participated in the process through a letter to Commissioners.

“Water supplies are critical to farmers and ranchers in Larimer County. A huge part of our industry relies on surface water that will be managed and protected by NISP,” commented Larimer County Farm Bureau President Bob Bee to Commissioners via Zoom.

“Agriculture and food is the second largest industry in the state of Colorado, so it is imperative that we do everything we can to increase Colorado’s water storage capacity and reduce the potential for future conflicts that arise when resources become scarce.”
